The Tennessee State Fair in Nashville was also set to host a Fire Ball ride operated by another company, North American Midway Entertainment. We will not be using Amusements of America to be our carnival midway provider this year. We will be announcing on or before August 10 even greater security and safety measures we are putting into place for the fair along with the carnival midway provider that we are under current negotiations with. They have a strong safety and inspection program. Amusements of America is a carnival that has been in business since 1939 and has been our carnival since 2008. The Wilson County Fair, Lebanon, TN is very saddened about the accident at the Ohio State Fair. Randall Clemons, President of Wilson County Promotions, defends the record of the carnival operator: Wilson County runs the largest fair in the state, set to open August 18. He expects extra inspections to make sure all rides are in working order. Benny Birdsong, co-chair of the Giles County Fair tells News 2 it will be the “safest fair in America” because of the added scrutiny. The Giles County Fair is set to open August 10. The Wilson County Fair and the Giles County Fair will go on as scheduled with Amusements of America operating their midway rides. The company provides carnival rides at 2 Tennessee fairs.
